Approximate bounds of the major vent fields within the Endeavour Marine Protected area based on a combination of source data: UW and MBARI Vent positions, Interridge listing of vent fields and positions, and from scientific publications. The Sasquatch vent field bounds were estimated based on the centre point of the vent field from Kelly et al., (2012), Table 2, Oceanography Vol 25, No 1 and surrounding ROV tracks.It should be noted that these positions are rough approximations and should be used with caution. A layer has been requested from the D. Kelley at the University of Washington. The requested layer will supercede this one. |
