Description: This dataset results from the integration of vent position data provided by both the University of Washington (UW) and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). Depth calculations and height estimations were derived from 1m resolution bathymetric data collected by MBARI's Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). The height values for each structure were estimated by generating a 'seafloor' raster from the EndeavourAUV data and determining the height difference between the original bathymetry data and the modelled 'seafloor.' The seafloor raster was created using the Focal Statistics geoprocessing tool with the following parameters: Circle 6 Cell Neighbourhood, Minimum Statistic, to generate a generalised seafloor with the vent structures removed.Original Vector Datasets: Endeavour_Vents_UW, Vent_Structures_MBARI. Original Raster Datasets: EndeavourAUVNorth1, EndeavourAUVNorthCentral1, EndeavourAUVCentral1, EndeavourAUVSouthCentral1, EndeavourAUVSouth1.

Description: Nodes serve as the link between the Primary and Secondary infrastructure. The nodes convert the high voltage used on the backbone cables down to the level needed by the junction boxes/SIIMs and instruments. The nodes monitor and control the power and bandwidth use of the secondary infrastructure through a number of science ports on each node. Each science port supports one or more junction boxes/SIIMs and associated instruments. Each node consists of two sections, a removable node pod and a base. The removable node pod contains the power converters, network equipment and connectors. The node pod can be recovered to the surface by an ROV for mainteance or upgrade. The base is a trawl-resistant frame that protects the node pod from damage and supports the connection between the node pod and the backbone cable.Currently deployed node positionsare retrieved from the Oceans 2.0 database using sitedevice, device, site, and device category tables. The SQL script: "ONC_CurrentlyDeployedNodesQuery.sql" is used to populate to populate this feature class. The original node positions for the NEPTUNE observatory were collected on the R/V Atlantis during deployment. The original VENUS observatory node positions were collected primarily on the C/S Wave Venture during deployment.Updated coordinates after the redeployment of the Barkley node were obtained on the C/S Cable Innovator 2021-02.Last updated 2022-04-11
