Description: From the Province: Benthic ecounits are intended to describe the sea bed and nearshore. The polygons in this dataset display "roughness" or relief of the sea floor, which is one of seven variables selected to derive benthic ecounits: 1. Depth; 2. Slope; 3. Relief; 4. Temperature; 5. Exposure; 6. Current and 7. Substrate. British Columbia has been collecting coastal resource data in a systematic and synoptic manner since 1979.
